Ministry Opportunities

Aviation
This ministry is headed up by our current head of ABWE's aviation ministries - Herm Teachout and Ken Fuss.  These men are gearing up this ministry for future outreach ministries into outlying areas.  With the recent addition of other pilots (see our prefielders) we will be able to see this ministry expand into unknown areas of Togo.

Blind Center
Our ministry is to educate those who have been blinded by disease, accidents or genetics to be able to read the Bible.  Our school is a haven for those who are shunned by society and family.  It is a help to them to understand God‘s love daily. Our joy is to bring these children to a saving faith and a growing faith.

Christian School Teacher Training

ABWE missionaries in Togo, in partnership with Togolese pastors and teachers, have developed a plan to create truly Christian schools–including writing African Christian texts, training Togolese teachers, and providing some permanent classroom facilities. Beginning with a core of 17 church schools, in 2006 we are training 21 first grade teachers and providing Bible, math, and language curriculum for that grade. Over the next 5 years we will train second through sixth grade teachers and provide curriculum for each grade. As God sends personnel and finances, we would like to train secondary school teachers as well.

Church Facilitating

Our team exists to help churches in Togo accomplish their goals of evangelism and outreach. We look for ways to partner with these churches as well as churches around the world to help reach the Togolese for Christ.

Church Resources

The Church Resources Team provides Christian literature and audio-visual materials in French and some local languages at affordable prices to West African nationals and missionaries. The Communications Resource Center (CRC) and Print Shop in Togo provides evangelistic and discipleship materials at subsidized prices including Bibles, songbooks, Bible studies, various Christian books, Gospel tracts, recordings, correspondence courses, and more. Literature is acquired by direct purchase from within and outside of Togo, or it is written or translated and prepared for publication by members of our translation team.

Karolyn Kempton Memorial Christian Hospital (Hôpital Baptiste Biblique)

This full service hospital gives opportunity to minister to both the physical and spiritual needs of the patients that come each day to the clinic and hospital.  We are always looking for individuals to come and help in the tremendous ministry.

Ladies Ministries

The purpose of the ladies' ministry team is: to train godly growing Christian women with a vision for reaching other women and children for Christ, and equip those women to evangelize, disciple, teach, and counsel that they may be able to train other women to do the same in their local churches and communities throughout Togo.

We aim to accomplish this purpose through five major objectives: 1) Evangelism; 2) Discipleship/mentoring – encouraging missionary and Togolese women to be involved in discipling and/or mentoring at least one other person; 3) Chronological Bible Studies – enabling Togolese women to teach others using a chronological Bible study method; 4) Development of a structured program of Bible education – working in conjunction with the Africa Baptist Theological Schools to develop a multi-level program of Bible education for women; and 5) Health education – teaching and training in disease prevention in local churches both as an evangelistic outreach and as a means to enhance the lives of believers.

Team Coordinator-Dr. Sharon Rahilly

Leadership Training

The leadership training team helps local churches to train their people to better understand the Word of God. We will be working through the African Baptist Theological Schools (A.B.T.S.) to accomplish this. This starts from the local church level to the seminary level on one of our campuses.

Team Coordinator-Gib Dickinson

Literacy & Bible Translation

The Literacy program exists to strengthen our churches by helping our members learn how to read the Bible in their mother tongue. We are currently training teachers in our local churches to teach classes in both the Ewe and Kabyé languages.

We are also using literacy as a form of evangelism in the southern part of Togo. Teachers are opening classes to anyone in the village and able to share the gospel during the classes. We hope to use literacy as well for hard to reach people groups, such as in the Anufo language for the Northern Outreach project.

With Bible translation currently being done in the Kabyé language, we are concentrating literacy training in Kabyé because only 5% of the people can read in this language.

Please pray for this ministry, for the teachers that they would have strength and love as they teach and for the students that they would persevere.

Team Coordinator-Cindy McFarland

Northern Outreach Project
The Northern Outreach team exists to start a church-planting movement among Muslims and others in Northern Togo, with a view to starting a mission's movement that will reach out to other countries in Africa and around the world.
